Fourth Quarter News

SOLs have been completed and we are quickly approaching the end of the year. During the last few weeks we will be very busy in fifth grade! The students will have opportunities to read from various genres and books of their choice during reading. In math, the students will continue to review various concepts they have learned in fifth grade this year. In Science, students are working hard on their inventions in preparation for our "Invention Convention" on June 4th. During Social Studies the students are finishing their unit on the western region of the United States.

Homework Policy

Students should be reading for at least twenty minutes every day. Usually, there will be no homework on Friday nights; however, depending on changes in the schedule, exceptions may be made. Please check your child’s agenda and homework folder each night, or as often as possible, so that you are aware of your child’s homework assignments each day. All homework is due the following day unless otherwise specified. Late homework will be counted for partial credit if turned in one day late (excluding absences). Missing assignments for the week will be completed during Fabulous Friday time. (Fabulous Friday is a privilege of extra recess, in the afternoons on Fridays, earned by those students who have had good behavior and turned in and completed all of their class work and homework assignments for the week.)
