Art / Fifth Grades Nine Week Plans

Fifth grade students will paint, draw, and sculpt every quarter. They will have opportunities to work with different styles of painting, use various art materials to draw, manipulate the clay, and use tactile skills. The following projects are designed to assist the students to acquire and strengthen their drawing, painting, and sculpting skills.

First Quarter - Fit and Focused Unit

*Draw an action figure
*Sculpt a human figure in action

*Paint a body part

Second Quarter – Having Perspectives Unit

*Study optical art. Sphere Drawing

*Manipulate the clay to make a three-dimensional project
*Study Van Gogh's Bedroom.

Third Quarter – Fruits and Vegetables Unit

*Draw a realistic looking vegetable

*Sculpt a fruit

*Paint an up-close part of the fruit

Fourth Quarter – Weaving/Sculpting Unit

*Weave basket with reeds

*Sculpt a school maskot

*Manipulate the metal wires to make a sculpture
