2nd Grade / Welcome

Dear Second Grade Families,

Wow! It’s already time for another exciting year of learning at Aldie Elementary. I hope that everyone has had a refreshing summer.

I’ve been the second grade teacher for the past eight years and I’m looking forward to working with the second graders who are joining me this year. I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know how excited I am to be teaching each child in second grade.

Academic and character education expectations include the students having fun while working as a community of learners.We will have several opportunities in the near future to go over the details of second grade routines and expectations. Specific policies and procedures regarding every aspect of the school year will be shared with you during the first weeks of school. Students can practice math facts, reading, and having an established bedtime. It isn’t too late to work on the summer reading incentive if you still need to complete it.

Our 2012-2013 school year is off to a great start. Students will have five word wall words and ten word family words on their spelling tests each week. We will be learning the routines during the first weeks of school and will begin word families in September. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions that you may have.

You will find our schedule for P.E., music, art, etc. in the chart below. I hope this will help students to remember to return library books and to wear tennis shoes as needed. Our snack and lunch times are also listed below; each student may bring a snack or purchase milk for his or her snack.
