Technology at Waterford
When visiting Waterford Elementary it is evident that technology is a vital component in the students’ education. Our school is equipped with a lab of twenty-eight fully networked desktop Dell computers, two laser printers (one color), scanner, several digital cameras, four desktop Dell computers and color printer in each classroom, and many software applications. (Click here to see the software matrix for LCPS.) Impressive as this list of equipment is, the manner in which technology is embedded in the curriculum is far more exciting. The students are at the core of Waterford’s instructional technology program. As a technology dependent society, it is the staff’s goal to develop and model appropriate uses for technology across the curriculum. The technology resource teacher is available to meet with teachers to help plan, design, and implement technology-based lessons, and after school workshops that present various strategies for integrating technology into the curriculum are conducted by the TRT throughout the school year as well. In addition, Waterford is very lucky to have a wonderful technology assistant, Crickett Ruedisueli, who is always available to help teachers and students in both the lab and classrooms.
