TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION - - - COMPUTER LAB !
In all Loudoun County Schools, technology is an integrated skill and activity. Computer activities are to be integrated with other content areas rather than function as a stand-alone discipline. It is unlike "special" content areas such as music, PE, or art. Individual teachers are responsible for content integration and technology rich lessons.
As your school's TRT, I'm available to brainstorm and collaborate ideas or TEAM TEACH so together we are really integrating technology and not just keeping the kids busy with the computers.
Also, as a member of Sugarland's SIOP Leadership Team and a SIOP Coach, I focus my efforts on staff
development in the following areas: Lesson Preparation & Planning, Integration of Processes
( 4 modes of Language Skills ) , Meaningful Application, Review and Informative Assessment.
Sugarland has SMARTBoards in every classroom and a wireless campus.
Additionally, we have two laptop carts, digital video cameras, digital cameras, four Airliners ( SMART's wireless interactive slates ) , SENTEO Interactive Response System ( used with our SMARTBoards ) , two ELMO document cameras & scanner , and an incredible wealth of educational software and online subscriptions and resources.
Our newest "Tech Learning Gadgets" are the iPads ! Through fundraising
events and Title I funds we now have 60 iPads - - - Sugarland Wildcats LOVE
the hands-on learning and collaboration with the awesome iPad apps !
We're preparing our students with skills and knowledge to succeed in the high-tech, digital age!
Mrs. Jennifer Amores-Kalich
Mr. John Jefferson II, Technology Assistant
I was born in Dallas, Texas and raised in Lawrence, Kansas. I moved to Virginia in 2005. This is my second year at Sugarland Elementary. My first as the Technology Assistant, previously I worked as a Resource Assistant. For fun, I enjoy working out and love watching college and professional football. Technology is ever changing, so my hope is to have students understand and utilize it to its fullest potential but always in a safe manner.
