He joined the United States Navy for four years and was part of the Gulf War. He worked as an Aviation Fuel Specialist, ABF2, and was stationed on the amphibious ship USS Nassau LHA-4. In 1995 he moved to Northern Virginia, where he met his wife and started a family. He worked for 15 years at a retirement community located in Northern Virginia. Currently he is working for Loudoun County Public School as bus driver and lives with his wife of 15 years and his two children in Lovettsville, VA. His wife owns the Thrifty Sister Store located in the heart of the Lovettsville town.
