What is SEARCH?
SEARCH is a division of Loudoun County Public School's Gifted Education Program. It is a classroom-based program for all students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. The SEARCH teacher works in the classroom to present lessons and activities that encourage questioning, higher-level thinking skills, and creativity.
The SEARCH curriculum is based on problem solving and founded in gifted education research. The curriculum spirals developmentally through five components: perceiving, reasoning, connecting, creating, and evaluating. Each grade level learns about each component at increasingly more complex and abstract levels. These components will be presented to students in K-3 as "keys" to critical thinking.
