FLES at Lowes Island
The FLES program introduces students to the Spanish Language emphasizing skills in listening, speaking and reading. Spanish instruction is based on thematic units developed according to the curriculum of Loudoun County Public Schools. Some of the thematic units include: numbers, colors, family, shapes, clothing, food, house, transportation, animals, plants, ecosystems, sports, and much more.
Students in grades 1 and 2 have a half an hour lesson once a week.
Students in grades 3-5 have a half an hour lesson twice a week.
Spanish is taught through a variety of activities, songs, didactic games and materials that encourage active participation.
