Mr. Magruder ~ Principal

My name is Clarke Magruder and I’ve been the principal at Leesburg Elementary for fifteen years. I received my undergraduate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1974, majoring in elementary education. In 1978, I received a master’s degree in school administration from the University of Virginia. I have worked in the field of education for 34 years and have taught kindergarten, first, second, fourth, fifth and sixth grade.

I am married and have two children, Caleb and Katherine. My son, Caleb, is starting his third year at Virginia Tech where he is majoring in engineering and economics. Katherine just began her freshman yeat at college. She is also enrolled at Virginia Tech and plans to major in chemistry. As parents, my wife and I appreciate the wonderful opportunities that our children have had to learn and be challenged academically in the Loudoun County school system.

I am extremely proud of the staff and students at Leesburg Elementary. Our school was selected as a 2005 No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School. There were fewer than 300 schools selected from both public and private schools throughout the country. It was extremely gratifying to see our teachers and students receive national recognition for their years of hard work and commitment to the educational process.
