Dear Parent(s):

Welcome to Frances Hazel Reid Elementary School.  We are excited about capturing "The Magic of a Moment" this year.  Please see page 2 of the August Reid Reporter for more information on our school wide theme (http://www.lcps.org//Domain/6665).  A special thank you to Tricia Pittsman and Jean Jancin for making the camera hanging in our main foyer that greets all of our visitors.  The camera creates an exciting visual representation of our theme and energizes us all for the new school year.

We are committed as a staff to providing a rigorous curriculum by utilizing best teaching practices to engage every child at his or her level.  Our students, parents, staff, PTA, and community value education and work together to help our children grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

 I am entering my twenty-fourth year in education.  I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in elementary education and taught various grade levels in different school districts for fourteen years.  I earned a graduate degree from the University of Maryland in school counseling and served as an elementary school counselor for four years.  I then earned my administrative endorsement from the University of Virginia and served as an assistant principal at Lowes Island Elementary School prior to becoming the principal at Frances Hazel Reid.

My husband and I live in Leesburg and are blessed with two beautiful girls.  I feel very fortunate as a parent and an employee to be a part of one of the best school systems in the whole country.

Communication is essential in providing the best for your child(ren).  We will communicate with you when we have celebrations as well as concerns to share.  We ask that you do the same.

Come celebrate with us as we capture magical moments this year!

Respectfully,

Brenda
