Classes are using productivity, research, communication, curriculum software, and the Internet. The computer lab is scheduled for class use for technology integration activities.
Students in grades two, three, four, and five use the Successmaker to reinforce math skills and reading concepts.
Students in grade four use the Type-to-Learn software program for gaining keyboarding skills.
Students in grades two, three, four, and five use Renaissance Accelerated Reading (AR) to assess reading skills.
In our classrooms, our school is networked with 124 Dell Optiplex 755 Pentium 4 computers and 16 Dell Latitiude D630 used by all in our school (four computers in each classroom).
Faculty, staff, and students have access to 31 HP Deskjet Printers, 2 HP p4015n Black Laserjet Printers, and 1 HP CP 3505dn Color Laserjet Printer.
Students and teachers have access to individual and group shared documents and folders stored on network drives. A T1 line allows speedy access to the Internet.
The computer lab is equipped with a HP Designjet 110plus poster maker machine.
Teachers can integrate instruction with an electronic Jeopardy game (by Educational Insights).
Emerick students have access to two (2) wireless laptop carts totaling twenty-two (22) Dell laptops in all. The laptop cart also includes a wireless printer.
The school is wired for a "morning news show" as fifth grade students will be managing the morning announcements projected on the Promethean board in all the classrooms.
Teachers have access to mounted interactive Promethean boards in each classroom for instruction. One mobile Promethean board is located in the library/media center.
Each teacher is provided with an iPad as an assessment and instructional tool. Approximately 30 iPads on site. The school is also equipped with an iPad syncing cart.
The Physical Education Department is equipped with an iPod Touch, BOSE sound system, and Wii entertainment system.
Additional electronic tools for instruction are as follows: thirty-two (32) Promethean ActiVotes, thirty-two (32) ActivExpressions, two (2) ActiView short throw projectors, and an electronic Jeopardy Game with six (6) interactive toggles by Educational Insights
The Emerick Elementary School Web Site functions as a content management system and is an ongoing project of the faculty, staff, and students.
