The primary responsibilities of the reading specialist are to coordinate the school's reading program and help find a way of reaching low-achieving pupils. The reading specialist may work with administrators and teachers, individually, and collectively, to improve and maintain reading instruction. To reach this end, the reading specialist may
-Provide instruction to students in or out of the classroom
-Team with the classroom teacher to instruct students
-Assist the teacher in grouping students and pacing instruction
-Introduce or model techniques and strategies
-Model lessons that will help students read in the content areas
