Loudoun County middle schools subscribe to a number of high-quality databases that let you search thousands of documents, biographies, magazines, newspapers, photographs and illustrations, audio and video clips, and reference books for information on current events, the arts, science, popular culture, health, people, government, history, sports and more.

A brochure for logon procedures to access these databases from from home is available in the Library. The usernames and passwords contained in the brochure are necessary to access these sites from home.

ABC-CLIO links to sites for American History, US Geography, World History (Ancient and Medieval Eras), World History (Modern Era), and Pop Culture Universe.

EBSCOhost Research Databases a set of databases including: EBSCOhost Web, Professional databases, Searchasaurus, Scientific American Archive Online, and Student Research Center.

eLibrary contains articles from magazines, newspapers, and reference works. It also includes maps and images.

Grolier Online contains the "Encyclopedia Americana," "Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia," "New Book of Knowledge," "New Book of Popular Science," "Lands and Peoples" and "America the Beautiful."

Infotrac lets you choose from different databases for information on current events, business, technology, the arts, science, popular culture, health, people, government, history, and sports.

Issues and Controversies provides up-to-date, objective, and in-depth information on the most on the most hotly debated issues. Current events, documents, photos, charts, news maps, political cartoons, plus information on analyzing points of view, interviews and holding town hall meetings.

NetTrekker is an interface that provides an index to safe Internet sites on a wide variety of topics as well as reference tools and resources like timelines, grammar guides, maps, calculators and more.

World Book Online Reference Center offers an updated electronic encyclopedia which includes an atlas, dictionary, current events, and a Spanish language encyclopedia.
