TEAM PHILOSOPHY
As teachers, we believe that every student has the potential to be successful in our classrooms. We will provide our students with meaningful experiences and engaging and challenging instruction to effectively prepare them for the Virginia Standards of Learning curriculum expectations and tests. As teachers we will provide a positive and safe learning environment that fosters a sense of belonging and respect among all. We also value communication and collaboration with students and parents to create unity throughout our team.
Students will be expected to put forth their best efforts throughout the school day. This includes academic content understanding as well as displaying responsible citizenship, a strong work ethic, respect, fairness, and responsibility while promoting school pride and self worth.
ATTENDANCE AND HOMEWORK
Regular attendance is vital in determining your child’s success at school. If your child is absent, he or she must make up missed work. It is the student’s responsibility to check with teachers to get the missed assignments.
VIRGINIA STANDARDS OF LEARNING
The Virginia Standards of Learning will be emphasized in Civics/Economics, Language Arts, and Science. Students and parents should be aware of the Standards in all subject areas. Teachers will make students aware of which Standards are being covered throughout the school year. Curriculum standards will be reviewed throughout the year, however students will need to take some time at home to review as well.
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
In addition to the academic requirements, some basic expectations of students will be stressed. Students will be expected to respect others as well as respect our school. Students are to arrive to class on time with necessary materials, ready to work.
