Art Club: This recently formed club meets in Thursdays in the art room. Mrs. Cacciola is the sponsor.
Battle of the Books Club: This is a team of students who will compete against other High School teams to show their knowledge of ten specific book titles. Mrs. Swierczynski sponsor's this club and they meet once a month in her room.
Book Club: This club meets once a month on the second Friday in the Library. Students read at least two titles a month and discuss them at the next meeting. Several field trips are planned in connection with titles read. It is sponsored by Mrs. Keating & Mrs. Ricketts.
Writing Club: This club meets once a month in the library, during lunch break. If you love to write, want to hang out with other writers, and have a good time then this is the club for you! In Writing Club our goal is to inspire and encourage students to write---and most importantly, to have fun doing it. Mrs. Ricketts is the sponsor.
Chess Club: This club meets every day during lunch break in the foyer of the school to play chess. In the spring the best players will compete against other High School Chess Clubs. It is sponsored by Mr. Fournier & Mr. Kitchen.
Craft Club: The craft club meets on Tuesdays in the confrence Room. It is sponsored by Mrs. Lough, our Parent Liason. Club members create jewelry and various other crafts.
SGA-Student Government Association: The Student Government is formed by elected representatives and alternates from each Teacher Advisor group. School officers will be elected from this club to govern the needs of Douglass School. The SGA will meet at least monthly and its sponsor is Mr. Yeager.
Cooking Club: This club meets once a month during extended TA to learn cooking skills and try new foods. It is sponsored by Mrs. J. Miller.
Culture Club: This club meets the last Friday of the month starting in January. It meets in the Library and the countries to be studied this year will include: Italy. Puerto Rico, South Africa, Belize, and Iceland. Culture Club is sponsored by Mrs. Keating & Mrs. Ricketts.
DECA Club- Distributive Educational (Marketing) Clubs of America: This club meets once a month and it is co-curricular as well. It is sponsored by Mrs. Olechnovich and they will have competitive opportunities in the spring of 2013.
Garden Club: This club is by sign-up for the students in the spring of 2013. It will be for three weeks and students will plant and learn about growing vegetables, fruits and landscape plants. It is sponsored by Mrs. Keating.
Project Discovery: Project Discovery is offered throughout the state of Virginia as a dropout prevention program and college access preparatory program. Serving economically disadvantaaged, and potential first generation post-secondary education attendees, the program is designed to promote education as a means to ending the cycle of poverty for our current and future generations of students. This club is sponsored by Ms. Baker.
Guitar Club: This club sill meet once a month in Room 216. Students can practice daily in the library during lunch. This new club is sponsored by Mr. Covel.
