Hi and welcome to Hutchison Farm Elementary School! My name is Mr. Charles E. Hale and I'm the Assistant Principal at Hutchison Farm. I'm starting my fourth year as Assistant Principal. Hutchison Farm is a safe and positive school with strong academic programs, dedicated teachers, specialists, and staff, and one of the friendliest schools you will ever step foot in. Although we are a large school, we take great pride in welcoming students from around the United States and abroad, making students feel "this is my home away from home." Learning in a safe, positive, encouraging yet challenging environment are key indicators of student success. There are many changes at HFES with new faculty and staff, increased focus on math and reading, enhanced procedures in several areas, and increased awareness of PBIS with the three Rs: Respect, Responsibility, and Readiness.
I can't believe at the end of the 2012-2013 school year, I will mark twenty years with Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS). Prior to becoming assistant principal at HFES, I served three years as administrative intern at Little River Elementary School, also in South Riding. Before going to Little River, I served as a central office administrator as the Guidance Services/CAMPUS Specialist in the Department of Pupil Services for three and a half years, where I coordinated CAMPUS, an academic and college preparation program, and helped supervise all elementary school counselors in Loudoun County. In addition, I had the great pleasure to serve as a summer school principal at three LCPS elementary schools. I spent a total of nine and a half years as an elementary school counselor at various schools across Loudoun County. I began my education career as a homebound teacher and in-school substitute teacher in Roanoke City Public Schools in southwestern Virginia. I earned my B.S. degree in Geography from Radford University. I received my M.A. Ed. degree in Student Personnel Services/Counseling from Virginia Tech, and my certification in PK-12 Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia. I'm a big fan of the Philadelphia Eagles (sorry Redskin fans) and enjoy firefighting and rescue collectibles. Finally, I really like learning anything about New York City.
I am married to a beautiful, wonderful, and supportive Reading Specialist at Ball’s Bluff Elementary, Kaye, and we have one son, Colin, who is a seventh grader and attends an awesome school, Smart's Mill Middle School in Leesburg. Colin enjoys basketball, science, drumming, any electronic devices, helping others, and plays baratone as a member of the SMMS band.
I'm looking forward to serving the students in a positive, supportive environment throughout the
2012-2013 school year. Please contact me if there is anything I can assist you with this school year.
