DOMINION NEWS

Town Hall Meeting to be Held by National Honor Society
Parents and students with questions and feedback regarding the National Honor Society (NHS) selection process are invited to a Town Hall meeting at 7:30 pm on Thursday, May 16th. The agenda for the meeting will feature a brief overview of the current selection process and an opportunity for parents and students to raise questions and provide feedback about their perceptions of the process.

Final Exam Schedule
Students will be taking exams according to the schedule shown below. Since exams count 20 percent of the semester grade, students should work diligently to prepare for these important assessments. It is imperative that students take exams on the day and time shown below. Please note that exams are two-hours in length, with a short snack break between exams. School will be dismissed each exam day at 1:30 pm. Students are expected to attend study sessions that will be conducted during Titan Time.

Monday, June 3rd 1st and 2nd block exams

Tuesday, June 4th 5th and 6th block exams

Wednesday, June 5th 3rd and 4th block exams

Thursday, June 6th 7th and 8th block exams

Titan Early Risers Cafe (formerly known as Breakfast Club)

Our latest numbers show that we are serving 120-150 kids each school day and we DESPERATELY need cups, napkins, paper plates and plastic ware for them. Earlier this month we had beverages but no cups!!!! These items are things we do not get donated from our bakery vendors and therefore we must purchase them or have them donated by individuals like yourselves. We also have very little in the way of funds so – now I am offering you an opportunity to purge your shelves of leftover paper/plastic products. We do not care if a holiday theme is on them – we just need your leftovers!! FYI - Wal-Mart, Dollar Store, and Party Depot usually have great prices on these items so please consider grabbing some to drop off in the office next time your are shopping.

EVENTS AND REMINDERS

FIELD HOCKEY AT DOMINION!
For the first time ever in Loudoun County, field hockey will be played at a public high school! Join us on Saturday May 18 at Dominion High School at 7:30pm when the Dominion Titans Field Hockey Club will take on the Briar Woods Falcons Field Hockey Club.

A great deal of thanks and appreciation goes out to Dominion principal Dr. Brewer, assistant principal/field hockey club sponsor Katy Garvey, and Athletic Director Joe Fleming for working with Potomac Field Hockey to make this event happen but more than that, the Dominion Field Hockey Club and Briar Woods Field Hockey Club for generating interest in field hockey in your schools!

Everyone is encouraged to share this news with your friends, families, and neighbors! Wear your school colors - whatever school it is! - to show that you want field hockey officially added to the athletic program your high school and in our county! Gates open at 7:00. Free and open to the public!

BOYS LACROSSE DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
We need you! Please come out and show your support as your Titans take on the Raiders for the boys lacrosse Dulles District Championship. Wednesday, 5/15 at Loudoun County High School. Face-off is 6pm

Rising 9th grade Athletic Exposition
Prospective rising freshmen athletes are invited to meet coaches and members of the athletic department on Wednesday, May 29 at 6:30pm.

Project Graduation Needs your Help
Senior Parents--Junior Parents--Sophomore Parents--Freshman Parents. Project Graduation really needs your help. We are planning and raising funds now for the massive overnight lock-down, alcohol free party for graduating seniors the night of graduation--which simply cannot happen without parent volunteers. We need your support to make this year’s Project Graduation a successful celebration for our graduating seniors. This is a great opportunity for freshman, sophomore and junior class parents to “pay it forward.” If you have some time you can work with Project Graduation, please contact Jodi Peterson (Jodi_peterson@verizon.net) or Colleen VonHoene (hoenes4@verizon.net).

TREASURER POSITION STILL OPEN!
ATLAS is looking for someone to take on the role of TREASURER on the ATLAS board of directors for the 2013-2014 school year. Experience in accounting or bookkeeping would be a beneficial skill to have to fill this role. If you are interested, please email atlas@dominionhigh.com.
