Earth Day Bike Collection Project
April 15-22
As part of the Earth Day celebrations, our school counselor, Theresa Ryan, is running a wonderful philanthropy opportunity for our students and community!! We are collecting used bikes to send to an orphanage called Casa Bernabe in Nicaragua. As the teenage children age out of the orphanage, it is important that they be able to support themselves. One of the opportunities they have is to learn a trade, such as bike maintenance, and run their own small business. The participating teenage children at the orphanage have already set up their own business and budgeted their profits to pay for a shipping container for all the bikes we can collect!
Bikes can be dropped off at Algonkian Elementary in the front lobby during the week of April 15-22. Bikes can be any size and in any condition! They will be picked up by Casa Bernabe.
Questions? Contact Theresa Ryan (theresa.ryan@lcps.org) or Lisa Kovacic at 571-434-3240.
