First of all, I would like to thank the entire Buffalo Trail community for your support of our Spring Book Fair. Through the tireless efforts of volunteers and the generous purchases made at the Book Fair, we were able to host a very successful fundraiser to support the school library program here at Buffalo Trail.
As we move into the last quarter, I would like to remind everyone to keep track of library books that come home. Things can become very busy during this time of the year, but it is important to remember to take care of library resources and return them on time. Please look for overdue notices to come home with your students, reminding you of items that may have been forgotten about.
As we transition to spring, all grades will be doing their final Virginia Readers’ Choice voting to choose a winner. Primary grades will then be working on story elements with books of various spring themes. Third graders will finish up their work with nonfiction call numbers. Fourth graders will finish up their study of reference materials just in time for SOLs. Fifth graders will be starting a new unit about book reviewing.
Due to a special interest that has been shown, I am happy to announce that we are welcoming volunteers into the library. If you have an hour or two to spare in your week, we would love to have you spend some time in our library. Tasks for volunteers include: sorting and shelving books, shelf reading, labeling, straightening and organzing shelves, and other special projects as they come up. If you are interested in volunteering your time in the library, please email me: sarah.anderson@lcps.org.
March is all about Book Fair here in the library! Students will visit for preview on Monday and Tuesday, March 4-5. Look for the Book Fair letter and permission slip to come home on these days. Students who have signed permission slips and money will be allowed to purchase during the school day on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, March 6-8. We welcome you all to join us for our Family Fun Nights: Tuesday, March 5 and Thursday, March 7 from 5:30-7:30 pm in the Buffalo Trail Library. Bring the family, browse the book fair, and participate in fun games and activities.
There are many awesome ways you can support the library from the comfort of your home, as well. We will be hosting an Online Book Fair from March 4-24. This is a great opportunity for friends and family who cannot attend the Book Fair to purchase books and give a little back to the school. Please visit our Book Fair website to access the online fair: http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/buffalo. All purchases are shipped free and delivered to your child at school at the end of the online fair.
A second great way to support your child’s reading habits, as well as the BTE Library, is by downloading Scholastic’s FREE e-book app, Storia. Every download of the app comes with 5 free e-books and if you download it from our Storia Book Fair site, the BTE Library gets credit for it. For every 25 downloads, we get $25. Visit the Storia Book Fair site for more information or to download: http://scholastic.com/storia-fairs
Hope to see you at our Spring Book Fair!
