
Introduction
The Standard of Learning (SOLs) describe the commonwealth's expectations for what students should know and be able to do at the end of each grade or course in English, Mathematics, History/Social Science, Science, technology, the fine arts, foreign language, health/physical education, and driver's education. The SOL tests were implemented in 1998 to assess students in the content areas of English, Mathematics, History/Social Science and Science.
