Calling All D.O.G.S.!
(Dads Of Great Students)

Rosa Lee Carter Elementary School is proud to bring the WATCH D.O.G.S. father volunteer program to our school.

What is WATCH D.O.G.S.?

WATCH D.O.G.S. (“Dads of Great Students”) is an innovative program of the National Center for Fathering focusing on prevention of violence in our nation's schools by using the positive influence of fathers and father-figures for a two-fold purpose:  to provide an unobtrusive presence in the school, and to be a positive and active role model for students.

How WATCH D.O.G.S. Works at Rosa Lee Carter

Fathers spend one day during the year helping at the school.  They perform various jobs throughout the day, such as greeting children in the morning as they arrive, monitoring recess or assisting in a classroom.   If a father cannot volunteer for an entire day or wants to volunteer more than one day, we are flexible!
How to Become a WATCH D.O.G.S. Volunteer
1.  Contact the Top Dog Administrators, Tanya Bittenbender at tanya.bittenbender@lcps.org or Pete Snyder at Pete.Snyder@yahoo.com to schedule a day to volunteer.
2.  Purchase a WATCH D.O.G.S. T-Shirt, the uniform our WATCH D.O.G. volunteers wear, from our inventory at the school (ask Pete or Heather if we have your size) or from www.pay4schoolstuffonline.com.
3.  If you have not already done so, provide a copy of your TB screening to the clinic at the school.   Click here to read about how to get a TB screening.
Volunteering in your child’s school is a rewarding experience for you and your child!
