Hi, my name is Joel Caruso and I teach Health & Physical Education at Potowmack Elementary. This is my 7th year teaching at Potowmack and 7th in the field of teaching. Before I became a teacher, I served 7 years as a SSG in the US Army, my accomplishments include: Ranger, Air Assault, Rappel Master, BNOC, PLDC, EIB, German Proficiency Badge, Physical Fitness Badge, and numerous commendations and awards. I also led my squad in the recover mission at the Pentagon after 9/11. In 2004, I finished my contract with the US Army and enrolled at George Mason University where I finished up my degree in Health & Physical Education and a 2 year starter in wrestling (HWT and 197). I have also completed my graduate degree in Educational Leadership in the spring of 2010(Administration). I am very involved with the youth wrestling community in Loudoun County. I am currently the President of the Ranger Wrestling Club, the Head Coach for the Ranger Wrestling Middle School Team, and the Head Coach for Loudoun County High School.

     At Potowmack I am on the Specialist, and School Culture Committees. Along with Mrs. Thompson, we run many special events here: Fall/Spring Jogging Clubs, IWALK, Putt-Putt Night, Wellness night, presidential fitness club and the Spring Field Day. We have a great fresh program this year that will incorporate more physical fitness concepts and equipment. Last year we had the most presidential award winners ever and looking to break that record again this year.  I look forward to working with you to meet your goals.
