Welcome to Third Grade!

Dear Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.  My name is Margaret Cappellanti and I am your child’s Third Grade teacher.  I grew up in Fairfax, Virginia and have lived in Delaware, Virginia, and West Virginia.  I earned my degree in Early Childhood Education from West Virginia University.  I am beginning my thirtieth year of teaching, and my experiences range from Head Start, Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third Grade.

I am the parent of a twenty-three year old, and his name is David.  My son recently relocated to San Diego, California. While I am adjusting to him being so far away, I am a very proud mother!

As a teacher of young children, I believe that children should learn in an active, yet structured environment.  I feel that it is important to integrate all areas of the curriculum with reading and writing.  Most of all, I set high expectations for all students and know that they can each achieve to their level of ability.  I believe in challenging all students to work to their highest level of ability.  If children know that they "can," then they will.  If children believe they "can't," then they won't.

I look forward to an exciting school year as we support the growth and learning of your child.  I feel that it is most important to keep an open line of communication, and that we work together as a team.  Please feel free to contact me at any point during the year should you have any questions or concerns about your child.
