Mrs. Gretchen Root is looking forward to working with your child this year.  Mrs. Root has taught 1st and 2nd grade for nine years in Loudoun County. 

 

Mrs. Root has a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Lock Haven University and a Master of Science in Elementary Education from Marymount University.

 

 

Mrs. Root is currently on maternity leave with her new daughter.  In her absence is Elisa Menacho. Mrs. Menacho, her husband, and two boys moved from New York to Northern Virginia in 2009. For the past three years she has been a Kindergarten Teacher in Brambleton. She holds an Associates degree in Liberal Arts, a Bachelors Degree from Hofstra University in Psychology, and a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from CW Post, Long Island. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, being adventurous, and tries to travel as often as she can. She is in the process of becoming fluent in Spanish. She is extremely excited to become a  part of the Catoctin Team and your child’s 2nd Grade Teacher. She is really looking forward to getting to know your children and watch them grow this year!
