The Nikki Hinton Memorial Scholarship

The Nikki Hinton Memorial Scholarship was founded to honor the memory of a beloved band student that died much before her time.  Nikkie was a flute player in the band for three years, performing with the marching band for two of those years.  Nikki was a unique individual, who inspired those around her to work hard, but to always have fun.  She never failed to have a smile on her face, or work to put a smile on the face of those around her.

Nikki was faced with a very sudden onset of Lupus in July of her Junior year at Heritage High School.  She passed away four weeks later, during marching band camp.  There is no more tragic story for a high school student, than to not have the opportunity to create their story.  Nikki will live in the memory of those who knew her, and those she inspired.

The scholarship was created following Nikki's death, as a way to help her memory live on, and to help other students in their pursuit of higher education.  The scholarship is a one year award of $1,000, and is given to a graduating senior of Heritage High School that is planning to attend some type of higher education.  Any student that is interested in applying for the scholarship should see the Career Center Assistant for the information and application.

Any person wishing to donate to the scholarship should contact Mr. Herrmann for the information.
