The German Club at Freedom High School is a very active curricular club.

 

Our school is a member of the Virginia Organization of German Students, and all student members of the FHS German Club are also members of VOGS.

 

In October we will travel to the fall meeting of VOGS at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg.

 

In November we will sell genuine German advent calendars. This is our primary fundraiser for the year. Proceeds from this sale support club activities and are the only funding source for the annual German Club senior scholarship, as well as for other German Club activities.

 

In December we will participate in the county-wide St. Nikolaus festival at Woodgrove High School.

 

In February and March we hope to join other German clubs across Loudoun County for a film evening and a games evening. We also plan to attend the annual convention of VOGS at Menchville High School in late February.

 

In the spring we plan to lead the other Freedom HS foreign language clubs in an inter-club bocce tournament.

 

Membership in the German club is open to all students who are currently enrolled in German, as well as those who have completed at least one year of German at the middle-school or high-school level. Annual dues for 2012-2013 are $6.00.
