Physical Therapist

 

 

I provide physical therapy services at Dominion High School, Forest Grove Elementary, Guilford Elementary, Lowes Island Elementary, Meadowland Elementary, Park View High, Potomac Falls High School, Rolling Ridge Elementary, Seneca Ridge Middle School, Sterling Elementary, Sterling Middle School, and Sully Elementary.

The role of the physical therapist in the school system is to:

· Assess the student’s postural alignment, mobility, and organization of movement into functional motor skills and to modify them when a disability interferes with the student’s ability to benefit from the educational environment

· Promote a team approach to student learning through coordination between therapy services and the educational staff

· Provide services to students when their disability interferes with his/her academic functioning within the educational environment

· Provide a wide range of services, such as:

o        Functional classroom and clinical assessments

o        Individual or group intervention sessions

o        Participation in classroom activities

o        Equipment recommendation, construction or acquisition

o        Environmental adaptation

·Therapist/teacher planning and consultation
