Sixth Grade Language Arts

Welcome to Mrs. Wiley's Language Arts homepage! I am so excited to begin the 2012-2013 school year! This is my seventh year at River Bend Middle School. I am originally from Buffalo, New York. I graduated from Fredonia State College with a Bachelors of Science in Education. I also have my Master's degree in Administration from Shenandoah University. My door is always open if I can help you in any way.

Rockin' Ravens

Ravens are offered as an incentive for good behavior, organization and respectful manners in class. Ravens can also be revoked for poor behavior and violation of classroom expectations and procedures. You are responsible for keeping track of your ravens and if they are lost or taken we are not responsible for replacing them. In January and June there will be a celebration for which you will need 20 ravens to enter. If you do not have the ravens then you will not be able to attend the party with the rest of the class.

Clinics:

Clinics will serve as a time for reflection and goal setting to achieve success. Most clinics will take place during your resource time and will be held in my room. Clinics will be assigned for the following reasons: 3 missing assignments, 3 tardies, inappropriate behavior, or to improve organizational skills or to receive extra help. If you are assigned a clinic you are expected to show up. Failure to do so will result in further consequences decided by Mrs. Wiley.

When you are ABSENT:

You must take the initiative to make up any missed work. Missing work can be found on the "WORK” portion of the chalkboard. Please take your missing work and see me if you have any questions or concerns. Whenever a student is absent, regardless of the reason, a reasonable amount of time, consistent with the length of absence, will be given to make up the work missed.

5. Homework

The Grading Scale:

   A+    98-100            C+    77-79
   A      90-97             C      70-76
    B+     87-89            D+    67-69
  B       80-86           D    60-66

F 59 and below

Availability

I am available to students before and after school and on my planning periods. On A day I am available 2nd block 10:08-11:37and on B days I am available 5th block from 8:30-10:03. If I can help you in any way please make arrangements to see me.
