Class Overview:

   I expect students to BE scientists! We will observe and question the natural world, think critically, perform experiments, and draw conclusions related to science. The science curriculum will integrate mathematics, reading, and writing. We will study matter, weather, experimental design, the solar system, and many environmental issues. By the end of the school year, your child will possess an age-appropriate understanding of the scientific world and be able to conduct scientific investigations on his or her own.

Homework:

            Students should study, on average, 10-15 minutes every night they have science class. Students will also have 10-15 minutes of homework every night they have science. Students must complete the homework assignments in order to be eligible for test retakes.

Steps to complete a test retake:

1. Come to my room, before school, within a week of receiving your test back to
see if you are eligible for a retake and to pick up a retake packet.

2. Complete retake packet. Bring the retake packet back to me as soon as you are finished with it on or before school on the due date.

3. Attend the scheduled re-teach/re-learn session.

4. Show up to take the retake on assigned date.

Grading System:

Labs/Classwork: 10%

Supplies:

• Students should bring their agenda, a pencil/eraser, their science binder, and something to read to class every day.

• Student should also bring a set of Twistables colored pencils (12 or 18 count) to leave in class. (We will use them almost every day.)
