Band Classes (during the school day)
Ensemble I/II - Also called Symphonic Band. This is our non-auditioned full band class.
Instrumental Jazz - Also called Jazz Band. This is an auditioned group.
Instrumental Methods - Also called Percussion Ensemble. All percussionists taking band should be in this class.
Music Theory - This is an academic music class. There is no performance aspect to this class. It is highly recommended that students have completed at least one year of a high school music ensemble class (band, guitar, choir or strings) before attempting this class.
Strings (Beg, Int, & Adv) - This is our orchestra class.
Brass Quintet Marching Band & Color Guard
George Herrmann was born in California and was raised for most of his life in Burke, Virginia. He attended Virginia Tech, earning a degree in Music Education. His first job was in Patrick County, VA where Mr. Herrmann taught elementary (K-7) general music and choir and band as well as High School (8-12) Choir, while also being the assistant marching band director. After two years, Mr. Herrmann decided to move closer to his family in Northern Virginia, and took a job at Sterling Middle School teaching band and general music. After several years there, Mr. Herrmann was given the opportunity to open Heritage High School as the Head Band Director, and has been there since opening day.
Mr. Herrmann sponsors all band classes, the Marching Band, the Color Guard, Saxophone Ensemble (Quartet), Brass Quintet, Low Brass Choir and the Woodwind Quintet.
