A true Virginia native, I was born and raised in Northern Virginia and attended Fairfax County Public Schools. In 2001, I graduated from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania where received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I returned to Virginia and worked as a Substitute Teacher for three years in Fairfax County, during which I also managed a fine dining restaurant in Clifton, Virginia. Feeling unfulfilled, I left the restaurant business in 2004 and started teaching fourth grade full-time for Loudoun County. During my seven years as a fourth grade teacher I earned my Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology from George Mason University. Through the I.T.S. Program at Mason, I discovered how to use the tools of technology to improve teaching and learning for the future.

For fun, I coach the J.V. lacrosse team at Dominion High School. I have been playing lacrosse since I was very young, and now have a blast working with high school athletes on the field. I also enjoy surfing and snowboarding in my spare time, and I love to cook and grow my own vegetables in the summer. I am excited to start a new school year, and am very glad to be the Technology Resource Teacher here at Lowes Island.
