Spanish and ELL teacher

Ms. Ferrance received a BA in German and Spanish for Virginia Wesleyan College and an MA in TESL from Penn State. She started out teaching English to adults in Penn State's Intensive English Communication Program. She then moved to Kansas where she worked for Hutchinson Community College's Newton Center, where she wore many hats. Initially she ran the Student Support Services office at the Newton Center, where her primary responsibilities included academic advising and overseeing the tutoring program. Before leaving she was responsible for coordinating all of the day-to-day activities and services offered at the Newton Center, including creating and staffing the schedule and representing HCC in Harvey County. In addition, she taught part-time when her schedule permitted, including: GED, Basic English, Business English, and Tutor Training (which she developed). After moving to the Wichita, KS area she completed an alternative certification program at Wichita State University and taught Spanish for five years at Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic HS. She recently moved to Loudoun County and is excited to work in the Loudoun County Public Schools. She currently teaches at both Douglass and Heritage HS.
